OptiLink Open/C
Open/C provides applications with a C interface to the OptiLink Storage Server Software. It allows applications to be
constructed that store and retrieve objects on optical media. It offers the same level of flexibility as the OptiLink DataBlade. It
supports the Family, Volume concept introduced in OptiLink DSA and OptiLink DataBlade products. Objects written in those
environments are accessible through Open/C and applications written using Open/C can work simultaneously with OptiLink DSA
and OptiLink DataBlade.
Through Open/C the hierarchical storage management (HSM) or work flow application developer can connect to the OptiLink
Server and perform optical I/O. The following list of functions are available for that purpose:
- cpt_clearVolume clears the volume number specified by a previous call to cpt_setVolume.
- cpt_close terminates optical I/O and reduces the media access count.
- cpt_connect creates and initializes an OptiLink connection structure.
- cpt_disconnect terminates a connection with the OptiLink server.
- cpt_getFamily returns the Family name given a family identifier.
- cpt_getOpticalOid returns the current large objects, optical object identifier.
- cpt_getSize returns the size of a large object in bytes.
- cpt_optiLinkStatus determines if the OptiLink daemon opmounter is running.
- cpt_read reads an object from optical media.
- cpt_setFamily associates a family name with future calls to cpt_read or cpt_write.
- cpt_setTimeOut sets the time limit in seconds an application is willing to wait for a volume to be mounted in an optical
drive.
- cpt_setVolume identifies a specific volume within a family of volumes.
- cpt_write writes an object onto optical media.
Open/C provides administrative functions that enable you to control the optical environment and to monitor optical resources.
Administrative functions enable the application program to perform the following operations:
- cpt_export exports the named volume from an optical library or standalone optical drive.
- cpt_import imports the named volume into an optical library or standalone optical drive.
- cpt_info returns information about a volume known to OptiLink.
- cpt_inventory returns a list of all known pieces of optical media, their family name, volume number and location.
- cpt_label labels an optical platter with a family name and volume number.
- cpt_ls lists all of the available objects on an optical volume.
- cpt_mount requests opmounter to load a volume into an available optical drive.
- cpt_unmount requests opmounter to unload a volume from an optical drive.
